Laser beam alignment:
Basic alignment must be performed mechanically when Laser unit is produced or repaired. But there is a software option to tune alignment until the perfect result. Check Service manual for the instruction how to eliminate divergence of the laser beams. No Laser repair required unless you have reached the maximum of calibration allowed by software and still need more.

Wrong, not existing, or uncalibrated paper profile:
Black'n'White picture below has a greeneesh color in some density areas. Although for the best result it would be better to use special Black'n'White printing equipment, paper and chemicals, custom calibration of the paper profile should save the situation. For those who interested in perfect quality printing, we advise to customize paper profiles used by Noritsu software. Definitely it's not enough simply to stay tuned and replace Profile Data as soon as new version became available. No Laser repair required.

Contamination light:
Although Noritsu Laser units doesn't have shutter as the same from Fuji, the contamination of light is very rare. Mostly such cases are possible because crystal, lense, aperture or filter in the laser gun is damaged and the form of the beam is no longer as dot. Also possible AOM is bad. We had this problem mostly with QSS35 series Type Ff units. Laser repair required. The picture below shows the contamination of Blue light (compare unexposed White with the next picture):

No full sweep exposure:
Sometimes, usually after changing the laser unit you might get white prints with some greenish strokes or part of the prints are white with strokes. This is because the brackets under laser unit (QSS30 and 33) are not properly installed on the bottom of laser units. In QSS 31 the source of problem is different. In this laser the exit mirror inside the laser unit is movable. If your new laser unit has been taken from another 3101 minilab adjustment of the exit mirror position is required. No Laser repair needed.
White Border on the trail edge of paper:
After re-installing the laser, you might get white borders on the prints. This is the centering issue. The source of this is incorrect positions of the laser unit and paper advance units. When you installed them you were able to move each assembly on its pins. The resulting white edge is because those assemblies are not properly centered. But there is a basic centering adjustment by software in the service menu, where you are able to fix RED laser (cyan line) within the real center of image. Then you go to Alignment option and adjust Blue and Green lasers (yellow and magenta) according to the cyan. You don't need to perform second step if all the colours centered perfectly. No Laser repair required.
Short circuit in a coaxial cable:
These three pictures below indicate how it looks when one of coaxial cable coming from AOM Driver to Laser Unit experienced an internal short circuit. Usually it is enough just to disassemble BNC connector and fix this problem. No laser repair required.

Banding:
Sometime you can get a smooth lines accross the prints. They can have a various width, but there is a cycle, and lines appear within equal distance. This is mechanical problem, fatigue of bearings. Please check exposure unit, clean and replace parts if needed. No Laser repair required.

Feeding rollers problem:
Sometime there is no banding at all, but paper becames occasionally stop between feeding rollers during exposure. There are two feeding rollers move the paper towards exposing light. When the exposure is almost done and only 2nd pair of the rollers is involved, the leading edge of paper touch one of the detail on its way and paper stops for a while. Then rollers still can move the paper further despite a weak tension. We see black line on the print (portion of the image is lost), then white edge, because paper was pre-cutted according desired print size. This might happen because of old "polished" feeding rollers (they have to be cleaned), bad bearings, weal springs, or Exposure unit either Distributor unit were improperly installed. No Laser repair required.

Dirt on the external surface of the exit glass:
Dust on the exit glass causes faint white unfocused lines on the prints along the paper feeding direction. There is a special internal brush to clean exit glass surface. Sometime line appears during printing, and production must be stopped and exit glass cleaned. But if laser unit is just taken out from the shipping box, there is 100% that this glass is dusty. We require that every laser unit must be cleaned before installation back into minilab. Failure to do so might lead to the following customer's claim:

I've got this picture from the customer, who just purchased used 3001 from reselling company very cheaply and this particular minilab has been in very bad condition. It was assembled from several ruined QSS 30 series machines. And every major part needed attention. I suggested him to clean glass with the internal brush, but this could not help. Then he pulled laser out, turned it... fat layer of greese has been found around the center of the exit glass. He deleted this greese, then cleaned brush, because it was dirty too. Then prints were perfect. No laser repair required.

Foreign object in Exposure unit:
The sharp edges of unexpected lines show that some foreign object (dust, thread, piece of paper, etc) covers the exposure hole at the same level, where the photographic paper is. Therefore, you have to observe and clean Exposure unit. Once sticker which holds the edge of paper roll has been found near the feeding rollers. No Laser repair required.
